Poetry: my passion for compelling words & language

I have been practicing the art and craft of poetry since 2002. I am especially interested in the rigor of form and the texture of sound. Counting syllables and searching for slant rhymes opens my mind to new possibilities of word and language.

Place is a strong theme in my work, both as a reflection of the natural world and with respect to dislocation, reflecting my east coast roots transplanted west.  I contemplate intergenerational relationships and enjoy pushing the limits of narrative poetry.

My poems have been published in print and online journals across the country, and have won awards from the Oregon Poetry Assocation. In June 2012, I was poet-in-residence at the Olde Orchard Inn, in Moultonboro, NH. In March 2014, I was named a "Bard Deluxe" by The Bear Deluxe Magazine for excellence by an emerging poet for poetry of place.

My first manuscript, Home Where I've Never Been, is looking for a publisher.

I am a member of the Full Frontal Writing Collective, which meets weekly to support our seven members in their individual writing pursuits. Previously, I was a member of the VoiceCatcher editorial collective and worked to select and edit manuscripts for publication.
